Jo Grant: President
Having worked extensively with nonprofit organizations in the US as both a volunteer and staff member, Jo brings experiences to assist in the building process. In collaboration with Joel Esguerra, she secured a partnership for the organization with Bikes for the World.
From 2001 through today, Jo has been a volunteer and later a team manager for the Pan Massachusetts Challenge (PMC), the largest cycling fundraiser in the US. She also is a longtime volunteer with the American Cancer Society and was hired in 2009 to manage their Patient Resource Centers in Central Massachusetts.
In 1990, Jo started and ran a small business and sold it in 2002. She currently works for Take Aim Search, a marketing consultancy and internet ad agency. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Christopher Newport University.
Joel Esguerra: Vice-President
An Architect and Senior Associate at Gensler, a global architectural design firm, Joel Esguerra brings project management skills that took initial design concepts and built it into a reality.
As a Bikes for the Philippines, Inc. founding director, Joel’s skills are invaluable in building the organization from the ground up. Joel was a key player in initial talks which ultimately launched the partnership between Bikes for the World and Bikes for the Philippines.
Joel is an avid cyclist, and is well connected in the Filipino communities in the greater DC area, Maryland and Virginia. He also organizes bike collections in these areas and volunteers at the Church of the Nativity in Timonium, MD in the youth ministry.
Joe Bolandrina: Treasurer
Sales, marketing and customer service specialist, Joe works with technically complex biotech products requiring great attention to detail.
Experience on both the Board and volunteer staff for Iskwelahang Pilipino, a nonprofit Massachusetts cultural organization for Filipino-American children, demonstrates his affinity to educating our youth and the Philippines. Another notable volunteer position of Joe’s was being the circulation manager for the Planet Philippines: New England Edition monthly newspaper. His enthusiasm and magnetic personality made him the perfect master of ceremony for several Philippine cultural events held throughout New England, New York and New Jersey.
An avid mountain biker, Joe has organized and volunteered for a number of bike collections where he and his family traveled to Virginia to load two containers bound for the Philippines at the Bikes for the World facility.
